I am a wife and mother of 2 amazing boys in need of a kidney transplant. I live with daily pain and exhaustion due to the genetic polycystic kidney disease. To maintain my limited kidney function, I eat a restrictive diet of veggies and fruit - no meat, processed food, or complex carbs. I only drink water and my enjoyment is a single cup of black coffee per day. Soon, the only thing that will keep me alive are dreaded dialysis treatments. Only 50% of dialysis patients live through treatments because of how hard dialysis is on the body. I do not want my kids to see me on dialysis and I want to see the age of 50. The only alternative is a kidney donor to give me a chance at life and doing things again like playing sports with my kids, gardening, and hiking. It would allow me to see my kids graduate from high school. The living donor program is amazing. Donor medical expenses, time off and travel, are all paid for. Donors do not have to be a direct match to donate and can donate from their local hospital. I don't want to die in my 40's like my mom but I remain strong and determined so that my kids maintain their faith that they too can live through this awful disease through the generosity of strangers. My ask is that you share my story in hopes of finding that generous donor.
I would be grateful if you shared this page.
