Hi. My name is Jazlynn Garnett; I’m 17 years old; and a high school senior. Putting myself out there like this isn't easy for me since I’m normally a very shy person. But I’m here, hoping someone will see this because I’m in urgent need for a kidney transplant.

Up until recently, my life was normal — hanging out with friends and family, watching netflix, and I was voted Rookie of the Year on my Lacrosse team. But in late November of 2023, while learning about blood pressure in my Health Science class, my blood pressure was taken by my teacher and it was alarmingly high. My mom rushed to school and took me to the hospital. I spent 9 days in the hospital, 6 in the ICU. There I learned that high blood pressure had been slowly damaging my kidneys. Shortly after, I had to start dialysis, which I do three days a week and it takes a large toll on my body. I don’t have the energy to do a lot of things as other kids my age and I’ve had to stop playing Lacrosse.

That said, I’m trying to stay positive. Outside dialysis I’m eating healthy and doing my best to take care of my physical and mental health.

A living kidney donor would literally give me a second chance at life. I’m told by my doctors that a person can live a completely normal life — even run marathons — with just one kidney.

Next year I want to get back on the field, attend Prom, and eventually continue my education to be a pharmacist. But most of all, I want to feel normal again. I would be so grateful if you shared my story. Please help me find a living donor. Thank you.
